*एकश्लोकी रामायण*
आदौ रामतपोवनादिगमनं हत्वा मृगं कांचनं
वैदेहीहरणं जटायुमरणं सुग्रीवसंभाषणम् ।
वालीनिर्दलनं समुद्रतरणं लंकापुरीदाहनं
पश्चाद्रावणकुंभकर्णहननं एतद्धि रामायणम् ॥
॥ एकश्लोकि रामायणं सम्पूर्णम् ॥
भावार्थ : एक बार श्री राम वनवास में गए। वहां उन्होंने स्वर्ण मृग का पीछा किया और उसका वध किया। इसी दौरान उनकी पत्नी वैदेही यानि सीता जी का रावण द्वारा हरण किया गया। उनकी रक्षा करते हुए पक्षिराज जटायु ने अपने प्राण गवाएं। श्रीराम की मित्रता सुग्रीव से हुई। उन्होंने उसके दुष्ट भाई बालि का वध किया। समुद्र पर पुल बनाकर पार किया।लंकापुरी का दहन हुआ। इसके पश्चात् रावण और कुम्भकरण का वध हुआ. यही पूरी रामायण की संक्षिप्त कहानी है।

The abduction of Vaidehi, Jatayu’s death, conversation with Sugriva.
Destruction of Vali, crossing the ocean, burning of Lanka city,
Thereafter, slaying of Ravana and Kumbhakarna—this is the Ramayan.
Full Ramayan in One Verse
(Meaning: Once Lord Rama went to the forest for exile. There, he chased and slew the golden deer. During this, his wife Vaidehi (Sita) was abducted by Ravana. Protecting her, the bird king Jatayu sacrificed his life. Rama befriended Sugriva and slew his evil brother Vali. They built a bridge over the ocean to cross. Lanka city was burned. Finally, Ravana and Kumbhakarna were slain. This is the entire Ramayan story in brief.)
It’s famously called the “One-Verse Ramayan.”
इसे “एक श्लोकी रामायण” कहा जाता है। रामायण का पाठ करने से पुण्य मिलता है और पाप का नाश होता है, लेकिन वर्तमान समय में संपूर्ण रामायण पढ़ने का समय शायद ही किसी के पास हो। ऐसे में एक श्लोकी रामायण का रोज विधि-विधान से जप करने से संपूर्ण रामायण पढ़ने का फल मिलता है। इसमें रामायण के सभी प्रमुख घटनाएँ शामिल हैं इसका पाठ मंगलकारी होता है।
